Melting Crumbles & Fixins

Making lots of Crumbles & Fixins today for a shop owner.
These are my popular soy melting wax crumbles that I scent and
mix in fixins (rosehips and cinnamon)

You just pour some in a melting pot and the scent gets infused into the air from the wax as well as the simmering of the spices.  They are available in all my scents :)

Tiny Work Spaces

Here's a peak of my tiny work room/office.
Yes~ I make my candles, tarts, potpourri, bee skeps, salve....everything in here!
It might be small,  but it's just right for me.  I like to surround myself with the oils, fabric, waxes etc to stay inspired.  On the one wall that I don't have a picture of is where my long (wooden door) desk is with orders hanging by clothes pins on the wall behind it and next to that my set up of candle making melting pots.....I love my job :)

Tiny, tiny doorway entrance too
I've been drying organic orange peels all winter....now it's time to use them in my potpourri & melting tarts~  www.crowsnestprimitiveshoppe.com

Organic Chicken Feed Recipe

Here is the Organic Chicken Feed Recipe that I've been using for years to feed my chickens.  I've omitted the flax seed since my hens have always left them for last and were rarely eaten....besides that, I include Organic Nettle leaf and Diatomaceous Earth to the mix.  I purchase each ingredient in 25-50 pound bags.  Found this was the least expensive way.  In warmer months I leave out the whole corn.

"Ronda's Whole Grain Chicken Feed Recipe"
Green Pastures Farm

"Here is the recipe that I devised in '99 and have been improving with additions, but using the ingredients in more or less the same ratio since 1999.  Note that all items are whole grains, and certified organic.  If you are looking for the cheapest feed, this isn't it.  If you are looking for a healthy, natural feed for your flock, this is one way to go!

***Its not necessary to follow this recipe exactly...just make sure your birds are getting enough protein, which is predominant in the hard red wheat and the legumes.  Free-range birds usually find plenty of protein from bugs etc.

2 parts whole corn (in winter this is increased to 3 or 4 parts)
3 parts soft white wheat
3 parts hard red winter wheat
1 part hulled barley
1 part oat groats
1 part sunflower seeds (in winter this is increased to 2 parts)
1 part millet
1 part kamut
1 part amaranth seeds
1 part split peas
1 part lentils
1 part quinoa
1 part sesame seeds
1/2 part flax seeds
1/2 part kelp granules
free choice of granite grit
free choice of oyster shell"
