We put the chicken coop in place under the birch tree for some shade. We had it built so that we could move it around with the tractor. The run will be attached and also be removable.
My coop was custom built by the owner of theshedsmith.com
A company in Wendell Mass that uses locally milled lumber and reclaimed windows for coops, sheds etc. Wonderful to work with and would highly recommend!
More pics coming soon :)

Chicken Coop
My name is Andrea Mengel and I live with my family in the hilltown of Huntington Massachusetts. Our 1783 saltbox home sits on 20 beautiful acres of fields and woodlands that we enjoy tremendously! Here I get inspired to make all the goodies that I sell at the ~The Crow's Nest Primitive Shoppe~

Great chicken coop and good idea to put it in a shady area. This summer has been beastly hot in South Florida and my daughter has lost 3 of her chickens due to the heat. For some reason they want to stay in their coop and it is just too hot in there. She's had to shoo them outside and lock up their little entry door behind them. She's also discovered they like to cool down by playing in the sprinklers ... just like her kids. :)
